Farrans/EPSE awarded with Fife WPS Project
EPS Environmental Ltd in consortium with Farrans Construction has been engaged by Scottish Water to complete the design and Construction of a new pumping station at Ballingry as part of Fife WRZ. The Pumping station has the capacity to deliver up to 25 Ml/d from the Glenfarg system into the distribution network during periods of drought conditions.
Works comprise detailed design, supply, delivery to site, offloading, construction, installation, and commissioning of the following major items of equipment housed within a new Pumping Station Building:
- 3 No. 250kW Pumps
- MCC/ICA/PLC/HMI
- Surge protection equipment on both suction and delivery
- Pipework & valves
A gravity bypass is provided within the pumping station to allow water to gravitate from the Glendevon Main to the Glenfarg Main to ensure stagnant water does not accumulate. During drought conditions the pumps will operate on a duty/assist/standby basis for the period controlled on pressure against demand. During the design process it was calculated that surge protection was required on both the suction and the delivery pipework. The MCC design caters for connection to a temporary generator.
