Scottish Water Solutions Bundle 13 secured by Farrans EPSE
EPS Environmental Ltd working with the Farrans EPSE JV has been awarded the MEICA contract for Bundle 13 for Scottish Water Solutions 2. The scope for Bundle 13 involves 6 No. sites which include 3 No. sewage treatment works upgrades and 3 No. treated water pumping station refurbishments. The six sites included in the scope are:
Fyvie STW:
The upgrade works is being carried out to ensure that the required discharge compliance and involve:
- New Inlet Works including
- 3 No. primary treatment tanks
- Intermediate pumping station
- 2 No 750 population equivalent SAF treatment plants
- 2 No final settlement (Humus) tanks.
- MCC & Systems Integration
Strathmiglo STW:
Certain aspects of the existing works were identified as requiring capital maintenance investment to ensure the site continues to meet the required discharge consents. The upgrade works involves:
- Temporary SAF plant
- New CSO screen, inlet screen & screenings handling
- New spiral aerators
- New FST scraper bridge
- New PFT thickening gate
- MCC & Systems Integration
Letham STW:
Certain aspects of the existing works were identified as requiring capital maintenance investment to ensure the site continues to meet the required discharge consents. The upgrade works involves:
- New Inlet Pumps
- Remedial work to the existing percolating filter
- New humus settlement tank
- New sludge draw off and FE recirculation pump stations
- MCC & Systems Integration
Mannofield TWP
Located in the Mannofield Water Treatment works in Aberdeen the pumping station has been earmarked as requiring capital investment to secure supply to the Aberdeen area. The upgrade of the pumping station involves the removal and replacement of the existing pumps. The following pumps are to be replaced:
- 3 No. 55kW Axial Split Case Aryhall Pumps (Duty/Assist/Standby)
- 3 No. 75kW Axial Split Case Slopefield Pumps (Duty/Assist/Standby)
- 2 No. 180kW Axial Split Case Bluehill Pumps (Duty/Standby)
Cult / Pitfodels TWP
Located on the edge of Aberdeen city limits the upgrade of the pumping station involves the removal and replacement of the existing pumps. The following pumps are to be replaced:
- 3 No. 150KW Axial Split Case Fernhill Pumps (Duty/Assist/Standby)
- 2 No. 280KW Axial Split Case Kingshill Pumps (Duty/Standby)
In addition to the replacement of the pumps a new 800KVA standby generator is to be provided.
Peterhead / Newfield TWP
The existing treated water pumping station on the Peterhead / Newfield service water reservoir has been identified as requiring capital maintenance investment to ensure that the pumping continues to meet the requirements of the area it feeds. A new pumping station is to be constructed on the existing service reservoir site and this will eventually replace the current pump station. The current pumping station consists of 3 No pumps which operate in series. Pump testing will be carried out on the existing pumps and this data will be used to determine the duty of the new pumps. The new pumping station will consist of 2 No. pumps which will operate on a duty / standby basis. Provision will be provided for a 3rd pump for future expansion. The contract also includes the design, manufacture and installation of a new iMCC, new PLC/HMI hardware and control systems integration for the operation of the pumping station.
