EPS Environmental as an Associate Delivery Partner for Scottish Water’s Q&SIIIa period was awarded the refurbishment of Peterhead SPS3.
Peterhead Sewer Pumping Station No3 (SPS3) receives flows from the major part of the town’s Network and the fish processing factories in the harbour area of Peterhead. Flows enter the station, built in 1975, via combined gravity sewers and 2 rising mains from feeder pumping stations. EPS MEICA scope included the refurbishment of the terminal pumping station and storm tank facilities whilst maintaining process flows. The complex sequencing of the works demanded meticulous management, planning and organisation from initial design coordination through to commissioning/handover.
Works comprise detailed design, supply, delivery to site, offloading, construction, installation, and commissioning of all works associated with removal of the existing MV pumps and their associated MV switchgear and replacement with 4 No. 175kW LV pumps, pipework and valves. Temporary works included over pumping and a staged installation of the MCC installation to ensure that there was no disruption to process flows. Works scope included installation of a New HV to LV transformer, LV MCC, telemetry and control system. The existing storm water system was augments and new Storm Tank mixers and isolating penstocks were fitted.
